In a big bowl, stir together, salt and hot water. Slowly mix in flour and the shortening. Add a bit hot water in the event the dough looks dry. Form the dough into spheres that can fit to the palm of your own hand.
Line a work surface with plastic or waxed paper. Scatter with water. Flatten balls on the wet surface until about 1/4 inch thick.
Heat a griddle or comal over medium heat. Cook the gorditas on each and every side till they’re cooked through.
Warm oil in a big heavy frying pan over medium to medium-high heat until hot. Fry smoked, pressing it down to the oil sometimes using a spatula. Drain cut off the points and things full of your favorite foods.
